Transportation

Visitors to the island may travel by air through Malaysian Airlines System (http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/splash.aspx or http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/my/en/home.aspx) with direct flights from London and then using a connecting flight via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (http://www.klia.com.my/). An alternative airline system would be AirAsia (http://booking.airasia.com/skylights/cgi-bin/skylights.cgi) . Upon reaching the International Airport of Langkawi, travelers may reach the Awana Porto Malai Hotel by taxis which is only within a fifteen minutes drive from the airport.

Visitors may also travel via land i.e. by driving up to the north of the peninsula of Malaysia and then take flights using Firefly, the sister company of MAS from the island of Penang. Another alternative way from the island of Penang to Langkawi would be to take a ferry from the terminal in Penang Island (the ride will take more than 2 hours).

If you prefer to enjoy the sceneries travelling by land, then you may proceed to drive further up north and then embark onto ferries available at two locations i.e. terminal at Kuala Kedah in the state of Kedah (the journey will take about 2 hours) or the ferry terminal at Kuala Perlis in the state of Perlis, Malaysia's northernmost state (the ride will take about forty minutes). Upon reaching the ferry terminal at Kuah town in Langkawi, visitors may travel by taxis to the Awana Porto Malai which is about half an hours ride away.

Cars are also available for rental throughout the duration of your stay, either from the airport or the ferry terminal.
